There once was a girl...

This guy came in today wanting to trade and renew his card and all and get his kid a DS. I looked at his ID and it was expired. We can't take expired IDs anymore, so I asked for the papers. He said he didn't have them, because he hasn't gotten around to renewing it. I told him that we couldn't do the trade.

So he's all, "What? That's BS," and I explain that unfortunately, trade law for us has gotten really strict (apparently its been this strict at pawn shops for the longest time) and its not us, its the law. He accuses us of being petty, and is like, "Can't you just do this for me?" I'm like, no. And he's like, "There's no cops around, how would they know?" And Adam (other manager on duty) explains that when we put in his info, it flags us and we get in trouble. So then he tells us to use our IDs. Um... no.

So he proceeds to keep calling us petty and ridiculous, turns to look at his kid, and goes, "No DS for you today," just as she's grabbing a game she wants for it. He's like, "They won't let us sell our games, so you can't get a DS." So she's like... 4, and she starts crying. And he's like, "I know, it sucks, I'm upset too but they just won't let us sell our games." Um... this guilt trip isn't working, we still can't do the trade, nowhere will do a trade with an expired ID, and now you're making your kid cry because you're an asshole.

And that is how my day ended. Not even kidding.

CALL OF DUTY!  Is pretty much my entire life now until the game releases, work has been ridiculous with it.  Lots of price changes and marketing and midnight launch approaching and training newbies and just... aaaaaah, work!!!  And customers have not been at all nice, we've had some really mean ones, including ones who think we need to give them gas money to get to the store because they decided that oops, they didn't want to trade in that game after all because they can't understand why it had to be resurfaced when there were so many scratches to the disc that it looked like a jilted lover took a key to it -_- 

In other news, beat Ratchet and Clank (yay!) and played the new Tekken with fight stick.  I love the fight stick, the game however... its not that I don't like it, I just miss the standard story mode where you pick a person and go.  Now there's this single player campaign thing...

Meanwhile, Assassin's Creed 2 is fast approaching with New Super Mario Bros, Little Big Planet on the PSP, and the God of War collection.  Oh!  Got to play the God of War 3 demo and oh.  my.  GOD!  *___*  It's so beautifully gruesome!  If I could spend a whole article geeking out about it, I would, because dear god!    Speaking of articles, should have another one ready soon, woot!   Along with more reviews.  Just finished reading the Gravitation vol 1 + 2 collection and um... yeah... *watches brain leak out of ears* 

And now time for some relaxation before opening tomorrow.  Mmmm, had yummy food with a friend tonight, and now my tummy is full and I is ready to collapse in bed.  It's nice to have a Persona 4 fan to obsessively chat with in real life  :)  combine that with hot chocolate and breakfast food and its the perfect after work event!

Random:  we want to do a Thanksgiving thing here and I'm trying to get the Wednesday before Thanksgiving off.  I guess it would kinda substitute the lack of lemon party this year, we could still watch yaoi and play video games and stuff perhaps?  I'm trying for Wednesday because I figure everyone had family ongoings on Thursday, or if its Thursday people can just come and go as they please.  Thoughts?

But awesome coworker who went to get me chicken nuggets and sprite because of said customer is awesome.

And awesome guys at midnight launch were awesome.

And awesome Motrin I will take to kill cramps will be awesome too.

And awesome two days off of working coming up will be awesome and full of awesome Magna Carta or Uncharted.

Then awesome paycheck on Friday will help pay for awesome Ratchet and Clank and awesome Tekken and awesome, ridiculously hard to find Demon Souls deluxe edition I reserved.

Awesome.

8 years today :)  

Have spent the last three days NOT being stressed about work, playing lots of Ratchet and Clank on PS3, watching the old ninja turtles movies on BluRay since some of the gifts to ourselves was Snow White, the EPIC Ninja Turtle's box, and Monster (all on BluRay) along with some shelves and lots of yummy food. 

btw, the second ninja turtle's movie is still awesome, and it looks really good on BluRay too!

The comments amuse me (wow articles get quite a few comments).  Someone was like, "I think this was geared towards girls, this would've been great if it were an annoying girls article," when the article starts with, "Everyone knows the annoying girls already, so its time for the boys."  lol, and someone thinks I have a secret crush on Cloud because they don't understand why he's on the list  O.o  Look, Cloud IS hot O.K., I'll always admit when a boy is pretty, doesn't stop me from hating that he angsts too much.

And last, but not least, someone thinks I need to watch more anime because I put boys like Light and Vegeta on the list.  lol, I've been watching this stuff since the 90s :)  And there's comments in the forums too, that makes me happy to get so many responses, and the pictures they used look really cool too!

Having a most awesome partner who drives you all the way to Duluth just to get you out of the apartment so you're not sitting around, depressed because its the anniversary of your brother's death.  So said partner wakes you up in the morning, takes you to grab a quick breakfast, then proceeds to drive 2+ hrs up to Duluth to visit an awesome historical mansion and have dinner at a really nice restaurant.  Just got in a few hours ago and am not the least bit depressed.  In fact, we're spending the rest of the night relaxing and playing the PS3 Katamari, yay!

Tomorrow:  Kingdom Hearts comes out on the DS!  I flipped through the guide at work and oh my god, some of the descriptions are deliciously cheesy.  The release of the game made me come up with YET another article... really need to stop with that  -_-  "Games you never thought would catch on," and I have to make a confession... when I first heard of Kingdom Hearts I thought it was the dumbest idea in the world, but now I love it.  So I'm trying to think of more games that made me go O.o but actually turned out to be cool.  That'll distract me from the KH fans who come into the store tomorrow, I'm sure, you know the ones who didn't reserve the game and will be all surprised that we are sold out... -_-

Nothing starts the weekend like calling your wonderful AnimeonDVD editor and finding out that the article you came up with randomly while playing Dissidia, thinking about how annoying Cloud's angst is, is not only going to get posted on the site but apparently may be going up other places that Mania.com manages and they want to pay me for it.

Um... really?  *blinks*  Really?! 

This all came from me being irritated at Cloud and thinking of more guys who irritate me, then trying to be kinda clever and witty, and now... I-I'm going to be getting paid for my writing?

More details as I get them, but I am soooooooo happy right now!  And to top it all off... I HAS THE NEW PS3 KATAMARI GAME!  SUPER RAINBOWS!

I think I realized something.  The fact that some annoying black guy constantly calls me "homie" annoys me more than the stupid boys who come in and assume I don't play games, especially when said guy returns things twice in one day in my store because "I just want something that wows me tonight, something where I get the full graphic," and proceeds to destroy the PS3 section and get games ONLY if they're in 1080p, not even caring if the game is good.  

Urm... not too many games go up that high, sir  -_-  Oh, and this guy is also the creepo who got mad at me for not returning his Madden because I didn't have the money, then actually wanted me to open the register so he could see the money inside of it.  Um... no.  No no no.  I'm not sure if you realize this, but business' start with a certain amount of money in the morning, and GameStop trades games for cash so when you come in with a $60 return and I've had cash trades all day... yeah, you have to wait or return it somewhere else... which he wasn't willing to do.  Then later he was like, "Yeah I understand now homie, I get you."  Stop.  Calling.  Me.  That!  I told him last night he wasn't allowed to return things anymore, because he had already returned things twice at another store before he came to ours, so his response was, "All right, I'll just go to Burnsville because the guy said he could reset it there so I could return, ahahaha "

The best part?  This was my last customer last night.  Wonderful  -_-

In other news, I kinda want the managers to come back now, because being manager with limited hours sucks as always, yes I'm talking to you GIANT PILE OF SYSTEMS AND ROCKBANDS THAT CAME TODAY OMG!  And why don't we have hours for next week yet?!  Frustrated SIGH!  If I could just do a little over 40... argh this is the same rant I make every time Josh is gone, they always expect miracles, but those are hard to do in 38 hours  -_-  

Oh wellz, soon they will be back and I will have some time to breathe and finish up the AoD annoying boyz of my life article... ha!  I think I have a title now  ^^  And while working on this one I got another idea, yay what's this?  Writing muses returning to me?  O.O

So I came up with an article idea of guys you just want to smack because they're so... annoying or stupid or any other reason (I'll even except ungodly powerful because characters like that are just boring) and why.  I've come up with nine and need one more, so please, tell me who you find to be absolutely annoying and why.  I'm also willing to take video game character boys too. 

Tomorrow is my brother's birthday.  He would've been 39 years old, holy jesus has it really been 13 years?  We were going to go to like, the acquarium and stuff, but instead we've decided to hang around the house, play some video games, and have some birthday cake in honor of my big brother  :) 

He would've wanted it that way.

He also would've wanted me to blow the money made at artist's alley on a new printer, Shaun of the Dead on BluRay, the Mist on BluRay, the Craft for the lulz, and the three Death Note movies along with an unhealthy amount of pizza and junk food for tomorrow. 

So tomorrow we're going to play some Arkham Asylum, some Dissidia (oh yeah I bought a PSP the other day lol what took me so long cuz I can't stop linking it to the PS3) and other games.  For those curious about Dissidia I only have this to say:  

WHY IS CLOUD A WALKING BALL OF ANGST?!  but the speech Sephiroth makes to him rocks so hard my Sephiroth x Cloud fangirl squealed in delight  oh and the game is really cool too, a fighting game wrapped in a semi-tactics RPG with a plot, and for a fighting game this is going to take a looooooot of time playing with everyone,  good guys and bad.  

So, cheers to my big bro, who totally wants me to waste the day gaming, for realz.  I love you, big bro!

Because buying a new PSP from Walmart will most definitely guarantee it working versus buying it from us.  Yeah, good luck getting one of them to actually OPEN the fucking box and testing the goddamn system for you because the one you bought from us didn't work.

Seriously, how much do you have to do for a customer, for realz.  This lady came in and NOT ONLY did her kid use bday money that totaled out to be $91 in lots of change and singles + mom's credit card to buy a PSP and stuff (parents, pls just take your kids quarters and take them to a bank or keep it yourself and use your card), but then we had to explain the intarnet to her.  As in, yeah, its a movie vocher code, and yeah you don't have internet but you can go ANYWHERE that has an internet hot spot to download it.

"Uh, like where?"

AND THEN!  We fucking SHOW HER HOW TO PUT THE DAMN GAMES INTO THE PSP SHE JUST BOUGHT!  Did I mention there's a line behind her?  Anyhow, later they tried a game and it didn't work, oh noes.  Manager is nice enough to try a game in a different system to see that crap, the game works there so it must be the system.  So as he's trying to exchange it we don't have another Rockband Bundle.  K fine, just take a core system and use the extra money to buy the frickin' rockband game.  

No, not good enough. 

"I'll just go to Walmart."

Huh what?  Really.  Cuz yeah, I'm sure they'll bust open the game case, pull out the PSP, open it and test it out in your face.  -_-  Finally, manager gets her to exchange it for the core bundle (cuz she didn't want to wait the like... day it would take for it to ship from another store, lol what) and take the difference, but then she wants to make sure the game works... and the 9 others she bought.  

Meanwhile, there's a line.  A long line.  So I'm ringing up everyone alone.

Did I mention that this all took over and hour?  Seriously, the woman came in at like 4 - 4:30 and was finally out the store by 5:45.  We close at 6 on Sunday.

My poor manager about lost his mind.  Somedays I wonder how I'll ever be manager because there's no way I could've been so calm during all of that.

... of course... he ranted the entire 15 minutes we closed together about white trash people and their annoying kids, lol.

Chicago trip was AWESOME!  Will have a better post later once I get all the pictures together.  Shedd Acquarium rocks (omg dolphins!), and Mitsuwa is wonderful (mmmm real ramen).  Family BBQ was fun and everyone (well... mostly everyone) got to meet kitten, which was really cool since no one cared that she's a girl, ya know?  In fact they were all, "LOL this isn't all of use you have to meet the rest," because I have family out of state and a lot more cousins.  

Oh, and found out I didn't save everything on the external harddrive (boo) so I have to do some stuff over again, but it's not too bad really.  In conclusion I like this laptop better and that's all that really matters  :)

Work has been... interesting, to say the least.  They've decided to majorly reduce hours and make managers work an insane amount to save money since they're on salary, so we've got some crazy breaks and only like... 6 hr shifts with GAs there for like... 2 hrs?  It gets rough when we get slammed at the end of the night and I'm the only one there  :(   And next week isn't going to be fun with Josh going off to company picnics or whatever, so guess who gets to work all day?  Wheeeeee when is it Anime Iowa? 

Speaking of which, have been making things for the art table like a lunatic, will have pictures of that too.  I randomly decided to check out the forum and saw the wangst drama "no fanart" thread of ppl complaining.  Ugh.  It was the same deal last year and guess what?  We all found a way to work around it so there's no point to complain.  And besides, it's not Anime Iowa who feels this way, its the ppl in charge of them.  I mean if they really really wanted to they could say don't even DISPLAY fanart at all, and walk around to make sure that we weren't.  But hell, they're letting us display it, so I'm going to display it (and if someone just so happens to be interested it in I'll slip it under the table like an epic drug deal, hahaha just kidding... maybe... hey guys meet me in the parking lot for your clock!).    

Lawliet died on 7/17/09.  Today, Shirogane was born on my birthday  :)  She is a pretty, sleek, black laptop with 320 GB of space.  She is EPIC BABY!  That is more than double the amount I had on the old one. 

Now, time to bookmark some webpages and get a nicer background than the standard HP one.  Also got a cute red mouse to go with it just because... I felt like it?  Happy Birthday to me  :)  Still won't be able to replace old files until I return home, but this is a start.  

Happy Birthday to me!  No more 24 jokes since well... I'm 26  :)  The only significance of that number is that's how old my brother was when he passed away  O.o  

Today have plans of hitting up Best Buy, at least, to look at pretty notebooks and possibly buying one for myself for my birthday since I realized that after a few paychecks I could have it paid off  :)  I'm sad and want a cute one that's like, red or something  -_-  Also thinking about hitting up Mitsuwa again for some yummy lunch and more candy.  

TOMORROW is the epic BBQ of family, friends, and damn good food.  Tuesday we might go to the Shed Aquarium, but we'll see, I really want to go because there's apparently dolphins and whales now  O.O
