1.  Seen Hancock with my boys + kitten last night.  And how is the movie?  It's funny, it's short, and if you don't try to figure out the plot and wonder how the *bleep* some things are happening, then you're fine.  But I agree with kitten, it was so short that it felt like the pilot episode to a longer series, especially since the plot could've been expanded to cover lots and lots of years.  More on that later when I get home.  But yeah, Will Smith as an uncaring superhero = win.  Worth $5, not really sure if its worth full weekend price of $10.

2.  Gots a press pass from Kakkoicon!  Hurray!   Job benefits rock hard  :)

My Chun-Li's hand broke  :(  It's one of the three figures I have of her, fortunately it's the smaller one and not the big, pretty one I a couple of months ago.  I'm finally putting the figures into the display cases, dear god the Persona one is gorgeous, and so are the two Togaino no chi ones I got from the Source  *is happy*

So cleaning has commenced for the lemon party, hurray!  There's only one more box to unpack, then ta da, all unpacked!  I also started to make crafty things for Kakkoicon and Anime Iowa (to which we DO have a table, yay!)  The head of artist alley for AI was helping people during the flooding, how awesome is that?  So AI is a go!   We'll be taking off sometime Thursday, not sure when, hopefully earlier than usual since we always get lost in the dark.

marisca4 gave me an idea of maybe staying in Iowa an extra day so we can all hang out since they're missing the lemon party, which would be kinda nice I think.  We'll see how that goes, but I wouldn't mind having some hang out time after the con  :)  I miss everyone a lot!  I wish I could visit people more.  It's unfortunate that my asshole assistant manager is gone the ENTIRE MONTH OF JULY, that really screws up my birthday (which I can't get off, no way in hell).  I'm thinking of asking my dad for a DS for my birthday... since everyone thinks that it's weird that I don't have one.  Peer pressure! 

Oh, something a bit important: If you're coming up for the lemon party, apparently 35W South is closed for the weekend, which doesn't effect the trip up here, but it effects the trip on the way back (to which we'll give other directions for those who don't know where the *bleep* they're going *coughs* senko_kage *coughs*)

I just woke up, at 5:30 in the morning, after having a dream about Kingdom Hearts.  ALL of the Kingdom Hearts games in existence.  I was watching every single ending, looking for some sort of... I dunno, more footage?  More news about upcoming games?  Hoping it would be on PS3?  I dunno, but it was weird, though I remember in the dream Roxas was fighting Riku, and Roxas had wrappings around his face like DiZ (creepy!), and Riku turned into Ansem, and epic music was playing.  Very, very strange  (but the fight was very very cool).

In other news, I got a text from a coworker last night saying that RE5 will be released May 2009, so hopefully it will be reservable soon.  I wish he would send me a text about Tekken and Final Fantasy and BlazBlue, but I know that won't happen anytime soon  :(  We all decided (at work) that any PS3 Kingdom Hearts would be delayed until Final Fantasy XIII was released, so SquareEnix wouldn't have to compete with itself (thank god so I can save some monies). 

And since we're talking about games, Nintendo has to be on top of the world right now (which I will totally mention in the video game panels at AI), because the three hardest to find games are all on Nintendo systems:

1.  Mario Kart (which shouldn't surprise people since it came with a free wheel, what DOES surprise me is the email that told us that no GameStop will have anymore until the end of July.  The game has been out since April!  I expected a rush, but... wow.  I've never gotten an email saying that a GAME would be on short supply, wiis yes, but not a game for it!)

2.  Wii Fit (which was obvious and forewarned by Nintendo, who said it would be a limited run in the first place, and we already knew that there was a shortage in Japan)

3.  The World Ends with You (which, again, isn't surprising since it's SquareEnix and the characters all look like Sora Riku and Kairi *giggles* but we also got an email about this one saying that it would be in short supply, next time it comes in I almost want to buy it just because one day I will have a DS and this game is tough to get a hold of, that and the soundtrack is full of awesome)
--This last one led to an interesting conversation at work:
Customer:  Do you have "The World Ends with You" in stock?
Me:  *busts out laughing*
Customer:  Is it that laughable?
Me:  Yes, very much so
Customer:  But I've seen it in stores...
Me:  Yeah... we've had it, once when it came out, and another time this month... that's it.
Customer:  Oh...
Me:  Can I ask you a question?  Why didn't you reserve a SquareEnix rpg from the same people who did Kingdom Hearts?
Customer:  Well, it's not the same team, this team did Chain of Memories.
Me:  *blank stare* 
Customer:  Yeah... guess you're right

So what's the lesson for today, kids?  START RESERVING SHIT!  For reals.  Because it's getting to the point where we will laugh in your face.  Don't come in saying, "I knew about the game I just thought I'd pick it up," ESPECIALLY if it's from Nintendo.  And the DS?  Well... the system is just awesome, the end.  AND YES I KNOW I NEED ONE!  We had a conversation about that yesterday:

Me:  You know, Guitar Hero on the DS is pretty fun, it makes me want a DS even more
Coworker:  You don't have a DS?
Me:  No...
Coworker:  ... what?
Me:  What?
Coworker:  I dunno, I just pegged you as a DS type of person.
Manager:  I know!  It surprised me too when she said she didn't have one!
Coworker:  Yeah, I thought she'd have a wii and a DS before she had a 360 and a PS3.
Me:  Hey!  I just don't do portable systems that much.  The last one I had was a Game Gear back in the day.
Coworker and Manager:  Still...

Maybe I'll ask for one for my birthday?  But... Soul Calibur... *stares at the shiny* 

Whee, finally tired again, going back to sleep now... maybe without having Kingdom Hearts dreams this time?

Found the Boy's Love movie along with a ton of others, so now we can watch live action movies at the party if we want to.  Huzzah!  There was a quick scare with my manager possibly trying to make me work that weekend, and me possibly having to snap his head off since I requested this off months ago, grr, but problem solved. 

Talked to my dad and we decided that after the party, we shall discuss how much I need for furniture and he will send me money for it, huzzah!  I can't wait!  Furniture get!  Talked to my mom via text messaging and she's currently losing her mind because she has to deal with my grandmother and work.  I really wish I could go and see her, even for just a weekend, but with my jackass assistant manager leaving for all of July that's not possible at all.  I can't get any weekends off  :(  I can't even get my birthday weekend off and my dad is coming to town, so we're celebrating after the weekend is over.

Found out Disgaea 3 is now reservable for PS3 so yeah... went ahead and did that  ^__^;;;  What the french toast is going on with PS3 coming out with all of these games I want?  Hmmmm... I'm hoping that E3 announces even more games I want, or at least we get some release dates.  I want some more first party Nintendo games very badly, no more of this random third party mess unless if it's something good like No More Heroes.  Ran into marainsanity, rubyd, and vulchu at work yesterday  :)  DDR Supernova 2 was purchased, to which I realize that's like the newest DDR besides like... the 360 one and the wii one.  I kinda miss DDR now, they need to make more.  Stop with the Guitar Hero (although the DS one is actually pretty sweet  *__*)  All this game talk made me remember that I sent like, two game panels to Anime Iowa, I should work on those along with the boy's love ones and stuff to sell for artist's alley.  I think I will make more Naruto, just because the series is at a point where I like it again  ^__^;;; 

Speaking of AI, I know I shouldn't worry, but registration was sent like 2 months ago and still no word  :(  I'm mostly worried about getting a table really, last year it filled so fast!  I know things have been uber hectic with the flood and all, so I'm taking that into account.  I still can't believe that senko_kage is coming up here for the party despite the craziness.  I love you, Cheals!

And now off to work to run in fear celebrate the release of Rock Band on the wii.  Whoo!  Let's see how many people we get to turn away because they didn't have it reserved, score!  It is actually quite ridiculous to find wii stuff, we even got an email saying that we wouldn't get anymore Mario Kart until the end of July  O.O  Wow... I think at some point we should have a get together and play some Mario Kart since it's hella fun, and Smash Brothers BRAWL.

1) What attracts you to the boys-love genre?
I should've seen this coming!  To be honest, I'm not quite sure.  I've been into it since I was 16, back when I discovered Gundam Wing  ^__^;;;  I like the stories (sometimes), I mean it feels like when you find a good boy's love story, it's really good!  The characters are great, the plot keeps you hooked, and I dunno, maybe it's the same-sex love stories that end happily (sometimes) no matter what drama the characters go through.  And even when they end badly (like Ai no Kusabi), there's still this "Love conquers all" feeling even if the characters are like... dying.  I also like the art too, but I always like good art  :)  But these days I love a good story.  Don't get me wrong though, sometimes the art is enough to make me fangirl and love the story  ^__^;;;

I did a paper back in college that kinda went into this question, why women like boy's love.  I liked the explanation I found that said something like, "Because homosexual love is pure," or something?  You know, heterosexual love has boundaries for women sometimes because, you know, being mothers and wives can restrict them (due to society and its expectations), but homosexual love doesn't have the same boundaries, and in the boy's love stories the couples surpass any boundaries and in the end it's just... love is love.  And sometimes, the women who are creating these stories, are sort of projecting how they wish their relationships would be, or how they want men to act.  You know, when the boys in the stories are all loving and caring for each other, and even the most cold-hearted seme gives in and falls in love.   It was a really long paper but it was interesting research, and the reasoning made sense to me.  I can't help but think that in some boy's love stories or doujinshi or anything, where a boy is getting attacked by tentacles or five guys or whatever, it's some girl getting a bit of revenge for all the hentai that's out there.

2) Define your PS3 love!
So at first I thought the PS3 was a waste of time, but with BluRay I started to warm up to it, then... there was Heavenly Sword.  I can't express enough how much I love that fucking game, even if it's so short, but it's so good!  And I love it to pieces.  BluRay is stunning.  And the games are just getting better and better.  I actually started to switch games over from the 360 to the PS3.  God, and when they finally announce Final Fantasy?  Gyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah  *dies*

3) I like names. They make me feel like I connect with people better. What's your partner's first name?
LOL!  I remember my professor yelling at me because every time I talked about my partner I never used her name.  She was like, "What's the girl's name?!"  I always seem to forget to say her name for some reason  ^__^;;;  She goes by Snow  :) 

4) What's the big aspiration career wise?
To be a good writer who gets published.  I just want to write for the rest of my life, I can't see myself doing anything else.  I'd like to write a book, or two, or whatever.  I'd like to write for an anime magazine or video game magazine.  I just... want to be writing forever!

5) Favorite character you want to cosplay as but haven't yet?
Despite my protesting, I do like wearing big dresses, they're fun.  I still want to do Anthy from Utena at some point in my life.  Anything from Persona would be awesome, but one of the Persona not the actual characters.  I also want to do Ky from Guilty Gear, but his new uber fancy outfit.  I can't think of anyone else at the moment, but I'm sure I'll see someone else  ^__^;;; 

In kinda random news, I talked to an old friend from back home in Chicago and caught up a bit.  I didn't realize how much I missed home, I haven't been there for over a year or so.  But talking to her did inspire me to start writing again, I mean like writing original work and going back to that dream of wanting to be a writer  :)  My friend just graduated from school and told me that she had to try and catch up to me, and hearing that re-inspired me.  So I might start posting original work, hurray for dreams! 

Updating live from the new apartment that's made of awesome and win!  Still need to be doing that unpacking thing, but that's what this weekend is for  :) 

Yesterday was quite awesome.  Finished cleaning the old apartment and got everything out of there.  The movers had came on Friday and moved like, 99.9% of the stuff (btw, movers are AWESOME!) and Saturday we just grabbed the random crap, like... laptops and stuff.  Went to look at furniture with xander6981 and found an awesome couch and kitchen table that might soon belong to us thanks to my dad  :)  After getting ice cream, we went to see his place which is quite nice and is in a very nice area.

Then, we went to see Sex and the City, which I was UBER excited for.  I absolutely love the series, for reals, and even have the giant pink box of EPICNESS because it's the entire series.

I actually, after thinking about it, have mixed feelings about the movie...




After the movie we ate at Granite City then came home to rest  :)  Today shall be spent unpacking, hurray!  Must.  Hook up.  Video game systems.  *__*

My dad just offered to furnish the new apartment.  Fuck me.  No seriously, FUCK ME!

Persona 4 gyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah  *drools*

For those coming over for Brawl and Mario Kart, I hope you don't mind if I play through at least the intro to GTA4 since I finally got it on Friday (was waiting for employee appreciation trade-in weekend).  Also, hope you don't mind if I stalk XBOX LIVE for a few minutes, since I just got a month subscription card from my manager and I'm hoping a certain demo *coughs*Ninja Gaiden*coughs* is up. 

I'm going to enjoy my two off days now,  because after that, I won't be off until like next Thursday  >.<  

Random:  Highlight of yesterday was two guys coming into the store and asking about Ironman for the wii, then they go, "She probably doesn't know anything about a wii.  No offense, but you don't look like a gamer at all." 

Me:  *raises eyebrow*  Right, that's why I own a wii, 360, and a PS3 (and a PS2 GameCube Dreamcast and SNES is in Chicago, but yeah)

Guy:  Really?!  You play this stuff too?

Me:  I'm one of the managers here.

Guy:  Well I don't doubt that, you just look like you have better things to do than play some video games.

So now I guess no one doubts I'm a manager at a VIDEO GAME STORE because I look like a manager, but not a gamer?  What the hell does that even mean?!  What does a gamer even look like?!

So I finally wrote out descriptions to the panel ideas I had for AI.  There's 5 of them, and possibly 6 if snowtigra AKA "Kitten" agrees to do a yuri panel.  COME ON!  YOU WANT TO DO IT!  DO IT!!!!!!  If these look o.k. to people, I'll submit the panel forms probably before work tomorrow or... sometime this week.



I'm wondering about the "Women and Yaoi" panel, because I think I can do it 16+, at the same time, I'm not sure and I'm wondering if I should just make it 18+.  I mean it is pretty much based on my huge Queer Studies paper from the last year of college, at the same time, everyone in class was at least 18 so... hmmm... I know sex is going to come up, but it shouldn't be explicit?  ARGH!  I DUNNO! 

Anyhow, random ramblings.  Work has been crazy thanks to those beautiful refund checks.  Seriously, people just walk in like, "I want a wii," and just up and buy it + tons of controllers + games + everything else.  Saturday was craziness!  They need to give us more hours because of how much money everyone is spending.  Anyhow, I got my check, but I'm saving it because this month we're moving, and we're getting movers, and just... yeah, the money is a cushion because of everything we have to pay for, but my dad is going to help out  :) 

Went to the doctor Friday and found out I'm doing fine, but I'll probably be coughing for the next 2 weeks or so, coughing up yummy mucus, mmmmm. 

Yesterday was spent relaxing and reading stuff from the HUGE PILE OF MANGA TO REVIEW!  Hahahaha, need to get caught up on that.  I read the third volume to the Finder Series and ended up searching for the rest via scanlations since BeBeautiful no longer exists and finding the rest of it in printed format will be impossible.  DEAR GOD WHY DID I DO THAT TO MYSELF?!  I didn't know the series wasn't finished!  And I like it so much!  *__*  Great, now I'm going to be a Ayano Yamane whore, along with Yugi Yamada and Kazuma Kodaka.  Must discuss this at lemon party...

Speaking of lemon party, it's about that time where people need to let me know if they're coming, because I need to know how much food to buy/cook.  I think the menu is going to be fairly simple... though with mac and cheese somehow or I have a coworker who will pout at me.  The PS3 will probably still be dead, but we can watch stuff via the 360 so it's all good.  Sorry to anyone who wanted to see pretty Blu Ray on plasmy...

Remember, the party is now June 28th, which is Pride weekend  :)  Kitten and I will probably be going to Pride on Sunday, if people are wanting to come with then feel free.  Out-of-town friends, you're welcome too of course.  For those who are staying the whole weekend, I'm taking Friday-Sunday off  :)  I will have my new address ready for you come June.  If you live in the area but want to do both lemon party and Pride, then just stay the night  ^__^  We have two bedrooms now in the new place and a bigger amount of space  :)

I also randomly started playing some Noctorne, because I found a copy at work a while back.  I forgot how fucked up the game was, and it randomly reminded me of why I love After school Nightmare... it reminds me of a Shin Megami game because IT MAKES NO SENSE AND IT'S FUCKED UP! 

PS3 has stopped spinning disk, now we have to send it to Sony to get fixed.  FAIL!!!

Spent the day doing nothing but watching yaoi anime, no seriously.  4 episodes of Junjou Romantica, then 4 episodes of Okane ga Nai (No Money).  I've decided that we must watch some of these series for the lemon party, Junjou Romantica is actually pretty entertaining, and I like the main pairing.  And the 4th episode has the best moment ever of the uke complaining about the seme, because the seme writes yaoi novels about the two of them!  Come to find out that his female editor is a yaoi fangirl and makes request of him to write certain scenes out between him and the uke.

Win.

btw, his editor kicks ass, she's a scary woman who totally pwns the seme all the time.  Yes.

Okane ga Nai is totally the guilty pleasure anime of yaoi, because Ayase is itty bitty and Kanou is UBER HUGE!  But Ayase is so adorable, and Kanou is so in love because of an event that happened to them in the past, and Ayase is all, "Um... who are you?"  Kanou is also the typical stupid seme who gets frustrated and it leads to unwanted sex, then he's like, "Shit, I'm a jackass!"  And he actually has to work to get on Ayase's good side, not just because of the whole rape thing, but in general.  Ayase isn't all, "OMG I love you!"  And Kanou is... a fucking idiot, actually using a book on how to approach timid small animals to get closer to Ayase... -_-  The anime is hilarious when it's being hilarious, and if nothing else, we need to watch the last half of the fourth episode.  It's got Kanou's brother proposing these uber cliche plotlines for a boy's love adult video between Kanou and Ayase, and they're just like, "Hell to the no!"

So... today I'm going to work.  Whee... we'll see how well this goes.  I went yesterday... for an hour and a half  ^__^  It went well... but then again I only rang up like 4 people. 

So the pills they gave me have side effects, for example, throwing up.  And of course... I get the side effects, because I'm just unlucky like that -_- 

So... um... need to figure out how to either a) not need the pills so I can still go to work, because I can't go to work if every 4 - 6 hours I'm guaranteed to throw up, or worse, or b) see if there's something else I can take.   I felt fine at the hospital  when I took them, but when we got home half an hour later...

I don't... feel horrible.  But I'm still not breathing normally, and when I walk around for too long I do kinda start weezing (which is horrible because I work at GameStop and that's all we do) and I'm still coughing up stuff  >.<  I don't want to take off a bunch of days for this, though I'm still going to see about tomorrow, at least.  It was really stupid of me to stay at work yesterday (though I had no choice), I should've told my manager that I couldn't really breathe (but I kept telling myself that I'd be fine, but by the end of the night it was really, really bad). 

Why, god why do the pills have to make me sick?!

EDIT:  According to the pharmacist, I have to EAT FIRST, THEN take the pills (which I didn't do last night at the hospital, they kinda just gave them to me, so hopefully this works...)

So lately I haven't been feeling well, which I chalked up to doing two midnight launches and being caught in the rain on the way to work.  I left early yesterday, and today I just felt worse, but I went in anyway because no one else could close.  Occassionally, I'd run out of breath rather quickly and start weezing  O.o  But I thought, "Oh I'm just really sick and my throat hurts," but it got worse.  Tried to get someone to cover for me but that failed, so I was stuck until 9:30  :(  Thankfully, my coworker did most of the work, because walking around the store actually made me lose my breath, wtf?!  Oh, and I had lost my voice  >.<

Came home and curled up in bed, unable to breathe!  Panicking only made it worse.  So we went to the emergency room and found out that my lungs were tight so I wasn't getting enough oxygen, and I had a respitory (sp) infection (aka: bronchitus).  So... yeah, I guess I was really sick  O.O  Got a prescription for some happy pills that I get to pick up tomorrow, and I'm leaving work early and possibly not going in Monday.  They sent me home with an inhaler to clear up my lungs. 

So... yeah... next time kitten suggests I got to the emergency room, I'll listen the first time  ^__^;;;
